ShipTracks 9.2 Unleashed!

ShipTracks 9.2 boasts an array of exciting new vessel tracking features and improvements.

Improved Interface

The first thing you’ll notice with ShipTracks 9.2 is undoubtedly the new look.  This starts with the icon on your desktop; please look for our trident the next time you want to startup ShipTracks.  Our charts have been updated and menus renamed to better reflect what they are: fleets, maps, alarms, and measure replace filter, view, alerts, and R&B.

There’s also a revised user guide, accessible under the help button, to walk you through all of ShipTracks features.   Please take a look and call our office with any questions.

Simplified Workflow

All of your favorite features are still here, we’ve just made them easier to find.  You’ll notice items such as layers and reports pulled to the main menu and archived data can now be found under history.   The tools button is now used only for designing ShipNotes, group administration, proxy settings, and password preferences.  To activate/deactivate the most widely used features, we have incorporated buttons on the top of the search menu.  When you have selected a vessel from the list, you can click the “C” to center on, “T” to tag, “24H” for 24-hour history, and “R” for daily position reports; click again to deactivate feature.  The right-click menu options are still available for fleets and alarms.

Enhanced Reporting

In response to your requests and the growing uses of AIS, we have enhanced our reporting features to provide instant information of vessel movements.  Reports show who is an area or zone real-time or in the past.  You can create report formats that you can save to an excel spreadsheet.

Speed Zone Alarms

Due to customer feedback we’ve added a fourth type of alarm, the speed zone alarm.  It’s perfect for creating a zone where you want to monitor speeds – draw an alarm zone around an area of interest (your terminal, port) and set the notification for when you want to receive alerts of a maximum speed.  When a particular vessel in your zone is traveling above 8 knots?  When any vessel in your zone travels above 12 knots?  You make the call.

Data Layers

We have added channel markers and ports layers.  The channel markers appear when you zoom in and include day and lighted cans and nuns, mid-channel markers and sea buoys.  Also you can display an updated layer depicting US and international port names and locations.

Advanced Searches

Building on the wild card searches from our last release, we have made it possible to search for vessels by IMO as well.  In case you haven’t tried the wildcard feature yet, this allows you to find a vessel based on part of a name.  For example, typing *vessel* into the text box on the search list will show only the ships with "vessel" as part of the name.  When you find what you're looking for, note how it is named or enter it in a filter so you can easily find it again.  Clear the search box and start typing text for the next vessel of interest for all of the names to appear.

Historic Playback

Simplifying our historic playback, users can go back over the last seven days to replay vessel movements.  We’ve made it easier and faster to download data.  Step by step instructions are included in the user guide.

We have also added the ability to see the last 24-hour track a vessel has taken.  Right click on the vessel and select ‘show 24-hour history’ to display the path then right click again and select ‘turn off’ to hide.  The history can be for one vessel at a time, if you want to see more, download archived data.
